On Thun's Town Hall Square, the fairytale Christmas tree will enchant young and old from 15 November 2024 to 6 January 2025. There is a reason for this, because the beautiful Nordmann fir has been decorated with new tree ornaments. The motto of the new ornament is: "Three nuts for Cinderella".
The Nordmann fir is about 30 years old and 12 metres high. It comes from a private garden. The fir was selected by means of a fir tree casting from around 20 firs received.
The fir tree was decorated by Margrit Bieri and Franziska Stähli from Schlossgarten kreative Floristik in several days of work and with a lot of heart and soul.
The tree decorations are very rich
400 baubles, 1'500 meshes, 30 owls, big and small 42 nuts, 4 crowns, 24 shoes, 1'000 tinsel, 200 pearl snow and ??? owls were used. In addition, the company ISP Elektro Solutions laid around 20'000 m of cable and 100'000 LED lights around the fir branches.
Christmas Event
On Friday, 15 November 2024, the Christmas tree will be ceremoniously illuminated. City President Raphael Lanz and THUNcity President Alain Marti turn the key, and at 7 p.m. sharp all the lights of the fairytale Christmas tree go on.
The festive event took place with lots of candlelight and live music.
